Analysis of EFL teachers skills, attitudes, and use regarding ICT in Ecuadorian private high schools

Abstract

Abstract:This study looks at an analysis of English as Foreign Language (EFL) teachers’ skills, attitudes, and use regarding Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Ecuadorian private high schools. To achieve this objective, a quantitative and qualitative approach was used. A survey and an interview were adopted as techniques to gather the information. In terms of the survey, it was conducted to eight female and two male teachers of a private high school in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador. Meanwhile, the interview was applied to six surveyed teachers. All the participants were from twenty to forty years old and they have two to fifteen years of experience as EFL teachers. The information was organized into three tables, considering three research questions. The results were analyzed based on the highest percentages of the survey, which were reinforced with the interview answers. The analysis of the data revealed that EFL teachers had efficient skills to use frequently ICT tools with a positive attitude towards the use of ICT in their classroom.
