Analysis of EFL teachers skills, attitudes, and use regarding ICT in Ecuadorian private high schools

Abstract

Abstract:This study was conducted with the aim of investigating EFL teachers` skills, attitudes, and frequency of the ICT use in private high schools from the city of Cuenca – Ecuador. The participants of this research were four males and six females EFL teachers. There was used a mix method with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The survey and interview were the instruments for data collection employed and both were related to teachers` skills, attitudes and frequency of ICT use in their EFL classrooms. The interview was used to find more specific information in order to support the numerical findings of the surveys. The data collected was classified in three tables, each one presenting a variable of the study in order to give answers to the three research questions. The findings demonstrate that teachers have high skills to use computers, Internet and educational CD-ROOM with a frequency of almost every day. Furthermore, teachers’ knowledge about the advantages that technology has in EFL teaching gives them a positive attitude toward ICT use in EFL classrooms.
