| Abstract: | Abstract:This study is mainly focused on analyzing EFL teachers skills, attitudes, and use regarding ICT in Ecuadorian private high schools. In addition, it includes an analysis of opinions, benefits and implications of its use. For this purpose, the sample included ten EFL teachers of two private high schools in Bolivar province, Ecuador. They answered a survey and an interview in which they express their opinions and abilities regarding the use of ICT in teaching. The results obtained from the field research evidence that many teachers can handle ICT tools but they do not frequently use them in teaching and learning process, because the institution does not provide classrooms with technological infrastructure. In conclusion, EFL teachers have a high positive attitude regarding the use of ICT in teaching because they have developed digital skills in many technological devices and tools, and they want to innovate and integrate these in EFL teaching in order to improve the English language in their students. |
| Description: | Resumen: Este estudio investiga sobre habilidades, actitudes y el uso de los profesores de inglés como Lengua Extranjera (EFL) con respecto a las Tecnología de Información y Comunicación (TIC) en los colegios privados ecuatorianos. Además, el objetivo de esta investigación fue identificar qué TIC y con qué frecuencia se utilizan en el aula. Además, este también incluye un análisis de beneficios e implicaciones de sobre su uso. Para este propósito, la muestra incluyó a diez maestros de EFL de la provincia Bolívar, Ecuador. Ellos respondieron una encuesta y una entrevista sobre las habilidades en TIC en la enseñanza. Consecuentemente, los resultados obtenidos a través de un análisis cuantitativo y cualitativo evidencian que muchos maestros pueden manejar las TIC, pero no aplican permanentemente en la enseñanza por falta de infraestructura tecnológica en las aulas. En conclusión, los profesores de EFL tienen una alta actitud positiva respecto al uso de las TIC en la enseñanza porque quieren desarrollar destrezas digitales en el manejo de dispositivos y herramientas tecnológicas, para poder innovar e integrar estas, y para mejorar el lenguaje Ingles en sus estudiantes. |
