Abstract: | Abstract: Chronic post-surgical pain (CPSP) is one of the symptoms with great impact on a patient s daily life and whose control poses a challenge for physicians. A descriptive, correlational study was conducted through a guided interview, evaluation of acute pain (VAS) and neuropathic (Pain Detect). Fifty post-surgical patients of the traumatology service of Hospital Isidro Ayora Loja were studied in order to determine the incidence of chronic post-surgical pain and its associated factors. The population was predominantly male (58%), age 41.4 ± 17.39 years, BMI 25.89 ± 3.82 kg / m ^ 2; high school diploma (42%); average salary 685.52 dollars, of urban origin (90%), with no history of previous surgeries (56%). The results showed that the incidence of CPSP was 4% and that its appearance is completely independent of the sociodemographic characteristics and the anesthetic modality used, however, if there is a significant correlation between the onset of acute pain and neuropathic pain characteristics. |
