Estudio del uso problemático del celular y su incidencia en el rendimiento académico de los adolescentes del cantón Gualaquiza, de la Provincia de Morona Santiago, durante el año 2019-2020

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research was to establish the problematic of use the cell phone and its incidence in the academic performance of adolescents in the Gualaquiza Canton of the Province of Morona Santiago, during the year 2019-2020. The AD-HOC Questionnaire for Psychosocial Factors, the Questionnaire on the Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the Questionnaire on Experiences Related to Cell Phone Use (CERM) were administered to a sample of 100 students, 65 women and 35 men, between14 and 17.The results indicate that 47% of adolescents present occasional problems and 10% frequent problems, in terms of the relationship between the problematic use of the cell phone and academic performance, a low and negative correlation of r= -,220 is reported; p <,028: in other words,higher academic performance, lower cell phone use. It is recommended to continue this line of research in Latin America and to promote similar studies in which other variables are used in terms of possible negative andpositive effects associated with the use of new technologies.
