The implementation of the padlet platform to increase reading skills at a public high school level in the city of Loja

Abstract

Abstract: Reading in English delivers positive benefits for those who master it. Nevertheless, students as a foreign language are not effective readers due to many reasons. Thus, it is necessary to innovate in teaching the English language, and to use resources that students today make use of, for example technology. Accordingly, this study is about The implementation of the Padlet platform to increase reading skills at a high school level in the city of Loja . The main objective is to identify the effect Padlet has on learners' reading skills from both quantitative and qualitative aspects. The sample comprised 40 students among males and females, who correspond to the first Bachillerato of a high school. Furthermore, students survey, observations sheets, pre, and post-tests were used to collect the data. The findings of this research brought to light that the implementation of Padlet had good acceptance by students and motivated them to learn the English language. Furthermore, through the pre and post-tests results, it can be seen that the Padlet platform's implementation had promoted reading ability in this research participants, but not significantly.
