Factors affecting communication skills in english in public high school students

Abstract

Abstract:The main goal of this study was to analyze the Factors Affecting Communication Skills in English in Public High School Students. The methodology used in this research has a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches. Techniques applied for compiling desired information were observation, survey and interview. Five observations and one interview were carried out to the same teacher; while a survey was applied through a questionnaire to 30 students to find out factors that affect the development of students oral communication skills. The results of the study demonstrated that the teacher s methodology, activities, strategies and technological resources are the factors that affect most students oral communication skills. In addition, while educators may be inclined to focus on academic language or written expression, ELs also need critical language skills to participate in conversations, ask questions, and share their own unique perspectives. For these reasons (and many more), oral language is a critically important area of learning for ELs.
