| Abstract: | Abstract:The main goal of this study was to analyze the Factors Affecting Communication Skills in English in Public High School Students. The methodology used in this research has a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches. Techniques applied for compiling desired information were observation, survey and interview. Five observations and one interview were carried out to the same teacher; while a survey was applied through a questionnaire to 30 students to find out factors that affect the development of students oral communication skills. The results of the study demonstrated that the teacher s methodology, activities, strategies and technological resources are the factors that affect most students oral communication skills. In addition, while educators may be inclined to focus on academic language or written expression, ELs also need critical language skills to participate in conversations, ask questions, and share their own unique perspectives. For these reasons (and many more), oral language is a critically important area of learning for ELs. |
| Description: | Resumen:El principal objetivo de este estudio fue analizar los factores que afecta las destrezas comunicacionales del inglés de los estudiantes de un colegio público. La metodología usada en esta investigación tiene una combinación de los enfoques cuantitativo y cualitativo. Las técnicas aplicadas para recolectar la información deseada fueron la observación, la encuesta y la entrevista. Cinco observaciones y una entrevista fueron realizadas al mismo docente, mientras que la encuesta fue aplicada a través de un cuestionario a 30 estudiantes para conocer los factores que afectan el desarrollo de sus destrezas orales comunicacionales. Los resultados del estudio demostraron que la metodología, actividades, estrategias y recursos tecnológicos son los factores que más afectan las destrezas comunicacionales orales de los estudiantes. |
