Factors Affecting EFL Student´s Oral Communication Skills

Abstract

Abstract:This research has been developed with the purpose of evidencing and analyzing the factors that affect the development of fluent oral communication skills in English language with high school students because this language is very important in the world and there is a need of students to be able to speak it spontaneously. In order to conduct this research quality and quantity methods have been applied, with the implementation of instruments such as questionnaires, interviews and class observation, being the participants forty high school students and five EFL teachers in the urban area of Cuenca. After analyzing the results, the most relevant conclusion was reached and this is the lack of motivation and opportunities, affecting students in the development of the language and the oral skill both in class and outside of it. Therefore, it is recommended the designing of proper strategies and planning so the students can develop ways of getting the language and dominate the English skills, principally the oral communication.
