Reflexión de enfermería sobre la práctica de eutanasia, distanasia y ortotanasia

Abstract

Abstract: Nursing is in charge of prevention, promotion, education and research in health; its main strength is the art and science of caring. The care provided by nurses focuses on all spheres: physical, emotional, spiritual and social. When death is imminent, terms such as euthanasia, orthothanasia and distanasia are associated. Euthanasia, intentional abbreviation of life with the aim of alleviating or avoiding the suffering of the terminally ill. Orthothanasia understands death in its natural and inevitable process, respecting the right of the person to die with dignity. Distanasia, attempt to maintain life at any cost, with disproportionate medical acts that make death more difficult, inflicting more suffering on the patient. The research method was deductive. Bibliographic research based on articles with a similar theme was used. The objective of the article is to analyze the legal dynamics of the practice of euthanasia, distanasia and orthothanasia, from the nursing participation at a professional level. Through systematic review of bibliographies with a nursing approach; relevant to the ethical and bioethical reality from the dimension of humanization during professional practice.
