Abstract

Abstract: The present investigative work through a qualitative analysis aims to expose the social and economic reality of households considered to be in extreme poverty in the Loja canton, through the writing of real life stories of two of the poorest households of the rural parishes of Loja belonging to Gualel and Santiago, which allow to demonstrate what the conditions and quality of life of thosepeople are like and the limitations that do not allow them to satisfy their basic needs, as well as the factors that influence them to be considered as poor.Contrasting the perspective of cantonal and parochial leaders who are aware of various situations of violation or scarcity that poor families of the canton present together with their testimony, alternatives of public policies are proposed that fight from different axes this social problem such as education, health, housing, food and income, the mainfactors that enable comprehensive development.
