Abstract

Abstract:Women's soccer in Ecuador has gained space in recent years, but continued to encounter obstacles in its path, such as the lack of media coverage and the struggle against the machismo of national soccer. The present work was developed with the objective of compiling the testimony of players and coaches who helped the evolution of women's soccer and reaped small triumphs throughout its history, recognizing the changes between generations. In addition, the behavior of the media and its coverage of this branch of sports was collected from the voices of several communicators who are linked to the transmissions of women's soccer. The results and testimonies obtained show the progress that has been made, many of them crystallized through the professionalization with the so-called Women's Super League, a competition that has been held for three editions. This has led to an increase in the level of soccer and to more and more women behind the ball.
