Abstract:.This research work aims to highlight the importance of education in Ecuadorian society, starting with the definitions of the most used terms in the educational field, to get into the institutional pedagogical proposal, which was carried out under the guide lines issued by the Ministry of Education. The proposal contains several pedagogical trends; however, this research work tries to deepen the impact caused by the constructivist approach in the teaching - learning process; It starts with the question: What is constructivism? What are its principles? And how do these influence on the pedagogical proposal? The study of the document provided by the Institution "Rodriguez Albornoz" is carried out, highlighting those parts where the constructivist contributions are evident, a brief analysis is also made of each of the principles of constructivism found in the pedagogical proposal, it is taken as key points the methodology, the role of the teacher and the evaluation process but especially all the impact that this new way of teaching causes on students.
