Ecuadorian public high school teachers´ perceptions on technological resources used by teachers in their EFL classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract

Abstract:Since 2020 , COVID 19 pandemic originated in Wuhan has caused a change in study modality. This change has produced that teachers and students adapt unexpectedly to integrating technology into their daily lives. Based on this antecedent, the present research topic entitled Ecuadorian public high school teachers´ perceptions on technological resources used by teachers in their EFL classrooms during the COVID – 19 pandemic is focused on analyzing the technological resources used by teachers in their EFL classrooms. The participants were ten EFL English teachers of ten provinces of Ecuador. The methodology used was mixed applying quantitative and qualitative approaches. The instruments consisted in two surveys and one interview. The first survey identified the types of digital tools were applied by teachers, and the second survey provided information on the frequency of use of each tool. The results indicated a favorable attitude and positive perception towards implementing technological resources by teachers who were aware of the advantages, disadvantages, and difficulties that may arise during the application. Also, they perceived the technology as necessary, effective, and enjoyable to create interactive virtual learning environments.
