Abstract

Abstract:This research reveals how important ancestral know ledge is and how the inhabitants of the Catamayo canton use it in their agricultural activities as part of local know ledge, w ith the purpose of contrasting all the information obtained w ith scientific know ledge, and based on to this, undertake improvement activities. As part of the methodology, a semi-structured survey composed of both open and closed questions w as applied w ith a total of 49 items, most of them w ith multiple-choice answ ers, it w as directed to producers from different parishes of the canton, to learn about the management techniques used in the agricultural production systems of the area. The results obtained w ere satisfactory since most of the surveyed producers carry out an adequate management of their agricultural systems, w ith agricultural activities being the most representative, highlighting the incorporation of stubble into the soil as a technique of know ledge and customs of their ancestors w ho w ere leaving a legacy to their families and in this w ay they have passed from generation to generation.
