Influence of M-Learning Apps to improve eightgraders speaking skills in an Ecuadorian Public High School of the Coast

Abstract

Abstract:M-learning and MALL are creating new learning opportunities in the EFL teaching field with the implementation of smartphones that bring concrete and notable results in the classroom. For this reason, this research investigated the Influence of M-Learning Apps to Improve Eight graders Speaking skills in an Ecuadorian Public High School of the Coaststudents . This research work was conducted in a public high school in Santo Domingo-Ecuador; the sample included 60 students from eighth grade. The research method used was quasi-experimental, and the data was obtained from qualitative and quantitative information. This data was gathered from a pre-test, a post-test, and sample observations that helped measure students speaking performance. Additionally, an observation sheet was used during the development of the experiment to monitor students progress. Moreover, a survey was applied to find out students perceptions about the use of these three apps. As a result of this study, the participants considerably improved their speaking skills. The most effective app was Duolingo because of its ability to increase students motivational and confidence levels needed to improve their English spoken skills.
