Evaluación de la efectividad de manejo de la Reserva de Biosfera Podocarpus - El Cóndor, ubicado entre las provincias de Loja y Zamora Chinchipe

Abstract: This end-of-title work was carried out with the purpose of knowing the current situation of the management of the Podocarpus El Condor Biosphere Reserve (PCBR) located in the provinces of Loja and Zamora Chinchipe and to measure the fulfillment of its strategic objectives, for which an Evaluation of Management Effectiveness (EME) was carried out, based on the Hockings Reference Framework. This assessment determined that the Biosphere Reserve has a medially Satisfactory Management level reaching an assessment of 52%. The areas with high levels of effectiveness are those related to the Impact area with 68%, followed by Context with 61%, while the lowest score was found in the Results area with 33%, whose indicators highlight the needs and difficulties faced by the Biosphere Reserve, especially the lack of an active management committee and the lack of specific administrative staff for the management of the Biosphere Reserve, the lack of an up-to-date management plan that helps to manage and act accurately in the management and operation of the Biosphere Reserve is another factor that affects the effectiveness of the management of the Podocarpus El Condor Biosphere Reserve.
