Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this work is to determine the parameters that serve to obtain the best recovery of gold from tailings from the R Nivel mine (Huertas Zaruma), using the flotation method, through a Denver D 12 cell and applying variations in the pH. Low environmental impact reagents were used in the flotation process, such as sodium isopropyl xanthate sodium silicate and eucalyptusoilwere used in the flotation process.For each of the flotations, 500 g of sample was used, the mineralogy that the material presented was: pyrite, chalcopyrite, quartz, muscovite, etc; pH variation (9, 7 and 5)was performed.In flotation 1 and 2, a pHof 9 was used, giving low percentages of gold yield 38.34% and 37.32%, in flotations 3 and 4 therecoveries were moderate 65.66% and 53.71%. The best performance was determined in the fifth flotation at pH 5, obtaining 95.07% gold recovery compared to thesixth flotation, which gave a yield of 45.78%, with flotation 5 being the most high compared to the rest of the flotations.
