Análisis de la migración ecuatoriana

Abstract

Abstract: This research paper aims to analyze the determining factors and consequences of Ecuadorian migration. Through an exhaustive literature review, the main migration theories and the historical evolution of the migration phenomenon in Ecuador are identified. The research includes a statistical analysis of migration flows from 1997 to 2023, identifying key events in Ecuador's history, such as the cocoa crisis, dollarization, various natural disasters, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the main causes that motivated many people to migrate outside the country were identified, as well as the main economic, social, and cultural consequences. The results obtained show how migration flows have evolved over the years, thus providing a much broader perspective on how events have influenced migration flows. They also highlight the significant contribution that remittances have made to the Ecuadorian economy, as they are the country's second most important source of income.
