Abstract

Abstract: This research project focuses on the academic preferences of law students and their connection to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs were developed by the United Nations, implementing 17 goals within the 2030 Agenda, which seeks to promote sustainable development in the social, economic, and environmental spheres. Article 82 of the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador establishes the right to legal certainty, which guarantees the application of fair and clear rules. A legal analysis is conducted of Ruling No. 065-15-SEP-CC issued by the Constitutional Court of Ecuador for the violation of the right to legal certainty. Mr. Jefferson Antonio Loor Moreira filed an extraordinary protection action against the ruling issued by the First Civil and Commercial Chamber of the Provincial Court of Manabí, which declared that the rights of nature and those of ancestral peoples had been violated. The ruling under investigation is related to SDG 16, which promotes peace, justice, and strong institutions; thus, the protected rights were violated.
