Comparativa entre los cómics y la serie The Sandman de la editorial DC Comics

Abstract

Abstract: The adaptation of comics and graphic novels to series or movies is a frequent phenomenon that faces the challenge of balancing the fidelity of the original material in a different medium. In this sense, the present work aims to analyze and compare the key narrative and iconographic elements within the story of the saga The Sandman of the VERTIGO-DC COMICS publishing house. For this purpose, a methodology with a qualitative approach, comparative analysis, was applied, taking as a sample the comics The Sandman: Preludes and Nocturnes (1989), The Doll's House (1989), Dreamland (1991) and Season of Mists (1992), in relation to the TV series The Sandman (2022). Among the main results is that the comics do not have a continuous timeline, there are several characters that the adaptation does not take into consideration; while the comic presents a greater number of visual elements and style, recurrently employing a dark and powerful color palette, with clear references to punk, post-punk and new-wave cultures.
