Integración socio espacial de la periferia a la dinámica urbana de Loja como elemento dinamizador urbano

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research is to analyze the socio-spatial integration of the northern and southern peripheries of Loja to the urban fabric through urban analysis for the formulation of strategies to improve accessibility and the satisfaction of basic needs. The northern and southern peripheries of Loja show irregular and diffuse spatial growth, social segregation and fragmentation that limit the accessibility of the population to equipment, infrastructure and basic services. What are the strategies to improve the socio-spatial integration of the northern and southern peripheries to the urban fabric of Loja? Based on an urban analysis of the consolidated urban fabric and the northern and southern peripheries, challenges and potentialities were identified as a basis for the formulation of strategies to improve spatial integration. The results indicate low spatial integration, being slightly better in the south. There are deficiencies in the road network that connects the center of Loja with the peripheries, lack of pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and the presence of socio-natural risks. For the reason, strategies focused on improving connectivity, promote sustainable mobility and strengthen economic nodes and green areas for a more functional integration.
