Abstract

Abstract: This paper analyzes the academic preferences of law students at the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL) and their relationship with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Therefore, it analyzes Constitutional Court ruling No. 382-19-EP/23 and its connection with SDG 16, which focuses on peace, justice, and strong institutions. In its ruling, the Constitutional Court declared a violation of due process in the guarantee of motivation, especially with regard to the reinforced stability of persons with disabilities, equality and non-discrimination, and legal certainty. The study explores how the skills acquired in key subjects influence areas of professional specialization and the promotion of justice in the national and international legal context. Systematic, exegetic, and analytical-synthesis legal methods were applied, along with techniques such as the recording and analysis of rulings from national and international organizations. In addition, information sheets were used to gather perceptions about subjects of interest, acquired skills, and students' professional prospects. In conclusion, the study highlights the importance of strengthening the connection between academic learning and the SDGs, fostering comprehensive training that enables future lawyers to contribute to a more just and sustainable society.
