Abstract

Abstract: This research work, entitled Academic Preferences of Law Students and Their Link to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the Study of Judicial Decisions, examines the case of Carlos Julio Aguinaga Aillón v. Ecuador from the perspective of human rights and SDG 16, which promotes just, peaceful, and inclusive societies. The primary purpose was to identify how the judgment relates to challenges such as access to justice, judicial protection, and institutional strengthening. Through the study of judicial decisions, my main objective was to identify and analyze how these issues intersect with global legal problems, particularly regarding access to justice, judicial protection, and institutional strengthening. The methodology employed a qualitative approach with a socio-legal design, applying exegesis and systematic methods, alongside indexing techniques and documentary analysis. It was concluded that the Ecuadorian State violated Mr. Aguinaga Aillón s fundamental rights by failing to guarantee due process and an effective judicial remedy findings formally recognized by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
