| Abstract: | Abstract: This study aimed to analyze student and teacher perceptions of online education in English as a Foreign Language (EFL). The study was conducted at a public institution located in Loja city. Thirty third-year BGU students, one teacher, and ten parents participated. The study was cross-sectional, with a mixed quantitative and qualitative approach. A survey was conducted to understand student and teacher perceptions of online education using a Likert scale. The qualitative approach involved an interview with the teacher, which provided insight into the challenges and perceptions of online education. The research was based on documentary research, as it involves the collection, analysis, and interpretation of documents and written sources. The main finding was that one of the challenges in virtual English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education is the limited interaction between students and teachers, creating discomfort and a lack of motivation among students. |
| Description: | Resumen: Este estudio tuvo como objetivo, analizar las percepciones de los estudiantes y del docente hacia la educación virtual en el inglés como lengua extranjera (EFL). Se efectuó en una Institución fiscal, ubicada en el centro de la ciudad de Loja. Contando con la participación de 30 estudiantes del 3er año de BGU, 1 docente y 10 padres de familia. El estudio es de tipo transversal, con un enfoque mixto: cuantitativo y cualitativo. En lo referente a lo cuantitativo, se aplicó una encuesta para conocer las percepciones de los estudiantes y la docente acerca de la educación virtual, a través del uso de una escala de Likert, y en lo cualitativo se empleó una entrevista a la docente, misma que permitió obtener información acerca de los desafíos y percepciones de la educación virtual. Además, la investigación es documental ya que se basa en la recolección, análisis e interpretación de documentos y fuentes escritas. Como principal hallazgo se determinó que uno de los desafíos en la educación virtual del inglés como lenga extranjera (EFL), es la limitada interacción entre estudiantes y docentes, creando incomodidad en el estudiantado y falta de motivación. |
