Factores asociados al desgaste en cuidadores formales en el Ecuador durante el año 2024

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research was to identify the factors associated with caregiver burnout in formal caregivers in the parish of Hermano Miguel, in the city of Cuenca, during the year 2024. Thirty-five formal caregivers participated and were administered calid instruments such as the Ad-Hoc Burnout Inventory (MBI). The methodology used was quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional and descriptive. The results show that 94.3% of the caregivers do not present work overload, 100% present low risk of burnout, and 60% show high compassion satisfaction. However, 25.7% presented high levels of empathy burnout and self-care resources were moderately low. It is concluded that despite the fact that most of them maintain favorable levels of burnout and compassion satisfaction, there are significant manifestations of empathy burnout and limitations in self-care, which shows a latent emotional vulnerability in this group of professionals.
