Abstract

Abstract: The main purpose of this thesis is to analyze the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), from their creation to their structuring into the 17 SDGs, which seek to eradicate poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all. Within this broad range of goals, we will focus on Sustainable Development Goal 16, which promotes peace, justice, and strong institutions as fundamental pillars for achieving more just, inclusive, and equitable societies. In this study, we will address SDG 16 from the perspective of human rights and personal integrity, through a critical and detailed analysis of ruling C No. 315, the case of Carlos Flor Freire vs. Ecuador. The study will examine the legal, social, and ethical implications of the violated rights and the judicial decisions adopted in this case. This case will serve as an illustrative example for a deeper understanding of the human rights that must be guaranteed by institutions. It also takes into account the importance of strengthening regulatory and institutional frameworks to ensure justice for all people, thus consolidating a culture of peace and respect.
