Abstract

Abstract: This research paper critically analyzes Ruling No. 1965-18-EP/21 in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 16, which promotes peace, justice and strong institutions by examining the impact of this ruling on the strengthening of the Ecuadorian judicial system, highlighting its contribution to the protection of rights and its alignment with international principles of justice. The methodology used was a qualitative analysis of the ruling and normative references. It was found that the judgment strengthens the justice system in the restitution of rights, although areas for improvement were identified in the proportionality and argumentative consistency, the importance of resolutions such as this one for an accessible and transparently accountable judicial system that meets the objectives of social justice and equity, highlighting its relevance for sustainable development and human rights in Ecuador.
