Factores criminológicos asociados al aumento de homicidio intencional en el cantón Guayaquil

Abstract

Abstract: This study analyzes the increase in intentional homicides in relation to various criminological factors that contribute to the rise in violence. The objective of the research was to analyze the criminological factors that have influenced the increase in intentional homicides in Guayaquil, in order to identify patterns and structural conditions that allow for a better understanding of the current problem. The methodology applied was a mixed qualitative-quantitative approach with a non-experimental design and a descriptive-explanatory scope. The techniques used were semi-structured interviews, surveys, and document analysis in order to explore background information and collect data on the level of homicides within the study area. The results show that different elements such as criminal acts, socioeconomic factors, unemployment, drug trafficking, and a lack of educational opportunities are triggers for the increase in homicides. Likewise, the weakness of the justice system, which restricts the prevention and punishment of these crimes, is also a contributing factor. It is concluded that it is important to implement effective public policies that reduce violence and strengthen citizen security in the canton.
