Análisis del perfil vocacional de estudiantes de bachillerato para carreras de STEAM

Abstract

Abstract: This research analyzes the vocational profile of high school students regarding the selection of STEAM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), considering personal, academic, socioeconomic, and cultural factors that influence their professional decision-making. The study arises from the decreasing interest in these disciplines and the need for contextualized evidence in Ecuador to better understand this issue from a national perspective. A quantitative approach was adopted through the application of a structured survey administered to students from educational institutions, employing the OSEMN methodological cycle for data collection, processing, analysis, and visualization. Through descriptive and inferential statistical analysis, patterns, trends, and significant relationships were identified among variables such as self-efficacy, socioeconomic background, academic performance, and vocational orientation. The findings allow the establishment of a diagnostic profile and the formulation of recommendations aimed at strengthening vocational guidance processes and promoting greater engagement in STEAM careers, contributing to the educational, technological, and productive development of the country.
