Estilos de conducción y salud mental en conductores motorizados en Ecuador durante el 2025

Abstract

Abstract: This study evaluated driving styles, mental health, and alcohol consumption among motorized drivers in the Manuelita Sáenz sector of Quito. The research was based on the need to identify these conditions to understand how these variables interact in a demanding operational context. The methodology employed the Multidimensional Driving Styles Inventory (MDSI), the GHQ-28 health questionnaire, and the AUDIT test to gather information on personality traits, alcohol consumption, and mental health, providing a descriptive overview of driving styles among motorized drivers in Ecuador in 2025. The results showed a predominance of adaptive driving styles, particularly the cautious style. Regarding mental health, the highest mean score was social dysfunction, and finally, a low risk of alcohol consumption was observed, all of which impact driving performance. It is concluded that the evaluated group maintains behaviors favorable to road safety, although preventive measures need to be reinforced for drivers with styles and habits that compromise their performance.
