| Abstract: | Abstract: Arterial hypertension represents a global epidemiological challenge affecting 1.28 billion adults worldwide. In Ecuador, it accounts for 25.1% of deaths, making self-management fundamental to the effective control of this chronic condition. The general objective was to analyze the effectiveness of self-management strategies among individuals with arterial hypertension receiving outpatient care at Health Center No. 1 in the city of Loja during the 2024 2025 period. A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted involving 120 hypertensive patients, utilizing the "Partners in Health" scale to evaluate three dimensions of self-management: knowledge, treatment adherence, and management of signs and symptoms. Data were analyzed using SPSS statistical software (version 27). The study population was predominantly female (70%) and composed of mature adults (57.5%). Self-management among the hypertensive patients was predominantly high: 65.83% showed a high level of knowledge regarding the disease; 79.40% demonstrated high levels in the treatment adherence dimension; and 90.55% showed high levels of self-management regarding symptom management. The results indicate higher levels of self-management compared to similar studies in Latin America, suggesting the effectiveness of the implemented strategies. |
