Abstract: This study examines the pedagogical and social factors that influence the process of learning English as a foreign language in Ecuador, with the objective of analyzing the impact of these factors on the English teaching and learning process. The research was conducted in two private educational institutions in Loja, Ecuador, with a sample of thirty second-year high school students and three English teachers. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative techniques, through the application of three data collection instruments: a survey administered to students, a survey administered to teachers, and a semi-structured interview conducted with a group of students. The findings reveal that pedagogical factors such as methodology, feedback and assessment, the implementation of dynamic activities, and the use of technological and non-technological resources contribute to the students' learning process. Similarly, social factors such as consistent socioeconomic support from parents and family members and the use of social media effectively influence the students' educational process.es_ES
