Abstract: This study examines a criminal judgment issued by a judicial unit in Ecuador regarding a misdemeanor involving the assault of a police officer on duty. The analysis focused on identifying the structure of the judicial decision, with an emphasis on the *ratio decidendi* and the supplementary arguments developed by the presiding judge. A review of the case file revealed how evidentiary elements including testimony and expert reports were evaluated and how the defendant's liability was established in light of the presumption of innocence. Additionally, the study examined the application of the expedited procedure and its impact on the admission and assessment of evidence. The findings demonstrate the coherence between the established facts, the applicable legal provisions, and the final decision reached by the judge. This analysis provides practical insight into judicial reasoning in misdemeanor cases and the criteria used to substantiate a conviction.
