Estilos de conducción y salud mental en conductores motorizados de la ciudad de Guayaquil, provincia del Guayas durante el año 2025

Abstract

Abstract: Motorized driving requires adequate psychological conditions, as dysfunctional driving styles, mental health deterioration, and alcohol consumption represent risks to road safety (Love et al., 2024). The objective of this study was to evaluate driving styles, mental health, and alcohol consumption patterns in motorized drivers during 2025. A quantitative approach with a descriptive and cross-sectional design was adopted. Three instruments were applied to 30 male drivers with a type C license: the MDSI for driving styles, the GHQ-28 for mental health, and the AUDIT for alcohol consumption. Among the results, a predominance of adaptive styles was identified, especially the careful driving style, with a prorated mean of 4.85. Regarding mental health, social dysfunction presented the highest mean, with 6.57. In relation to alcohol consumption, 46.7% of the drivers presented risky consumption. These findings show an inclination toward responsible driving, although functional difficulties and consumption habits persist, which could affect road safety.
