| Abstract: | Abstract: In this research, the contribution of cooperative play as a pedagogical tool to strengthen social skills was addressed. The general objective of the study was to analyze the influence of cooperative play on the socio-emotional development of children with difficulties in social communication skills. It was developed under a mixed approach, with a non-experimental design, and a descriptive and explanatory level. The population consisted of 100 caregivers and 5 professionals from the SUCRE Municipal Comprehensive Care Center. A survey was used for collecting measurable data and an interview to understand criteria on how cooperative play influences the advancement of social and emotional skills, using the Social Skills Questionnaire adapted to the study context. The findings showed that cooperative play promoted social interaction and group collaboration; however, problems with spontaneous communication and emotional self-regulation persisted. It was concluded that cooperative play fosters children's socio-emotional integration and self-regulation, as it eliminates the pressure of others' judgment and enhances language as a means to interact and reach a social level. |
