Abstract: Abstract: Teaching speaking skills is of great importance to students, as they learn English in order to communicate. Therefore, it is vital to employ strategies that create an environment conducive to student practice during class. The purpose of this research is to determine the effectiveness of storytelling as a strategy for improving oral expression skills. The study involved a sample of nine 10th-grade English students. It was conducted in the city of Loja over a two-month period using a mixed-methods approach. A pre-test, a post-test, and a survey were administered to assess the strategy's effectiveness. Additionally, storytelling videos were used to enhance oral communication in English. The results showed an improvement in the students' ability to comprehend and retell stories, which positively influenced their speaking skills. The study concludes that implementing a story-retelling strategy provides EFL students with opportunities to speak, interact, and develop their oral communication skills.
