Abstract: Abstract: This study investigates the pedagogical and social factors related to English language learning among second-year high school students. The objective is to analyze how these variables affect this process. The study was conducted at a public institution in the Urcuquí Canton, Ecuador, using a mixed-methods approach and a sample of thirty students. Data collection involved student interviews and surveys administered to the institution's teachers. Quantitative analysis described the frequency and percentage of teaching methods and competencies as perceived by students, while qualitative analysis explored pedagogical practices and the role of the social context in greater depth. The results show that most limitations fall within the pedagogical category, highlighting a lack of effective feedback and limited use of technology. Regarding the social aspect, linguistic isolation is emphasized due to limited opportunities for interaction and for applying what has been learned at home and in the community. In conclusion, the results indicate the need...
