Description: This study is based on a Descriptive Analysis of Anglicisms in Ecuadorian Magazines. Its main purpose is to carry out a descriptive and linguistic analysis of the effects of anglicisms on the written language, specifically in Ecuadorian magazines. The investigation took place in Cuenca, Ecuador. Samples of three variables of magazines were used: two cultural magazines (Ilustre Cuenca and Vistal Sur), two scholarly magazines (Emprendedores and América Economía), and two general interest magazines (Estadio and Olímpico). The information was collected by skimming, reading, and notetaking, data collection formats, cards, and tables. The general approach of this study is Qualitative and Quantitative. The Qualitative analysis revealed that most anglicisms transfer into Spanish as nouns and maintain the English meaning, and around half have a morphological change. The Quantitative analysis revealed that general interest and scholarly variables tie for the most anglicisms (forty-four in each). These ten most frequent anglicisms are used more often the general interest magazine variable. As a conclusion, around fifty percent of anglicisms have Spanish equivalents. These anglicisms deteriorate the Spanish language. The other fifty percent of anglicisms do not have equivalents, and they enrich the Spanish language.
