x ABSTRACT Economic growth is generally conceived in terms of real variables: production, employment, income, wealth accumulation. And yet it is clear that countries that exhibit the highest rates of economic growth are also characterized by the highest degree of specialization of its financial activity. The interest in analyzing the relationship between financial system development and economic growth, is based on the fact that financial institutions to efficiently fulfill certain basic functions, they can reduce market imperfections that impede the efficient allocation of resources in saving process - investment. The financial system is very sensitive to macroeconomic fluctuations sector and political situation, hence the importance of a prudent and careful handling to maintain the security of guaranteed depositors and the reallocation of resources in the economy
