Abstract: This investigation is based on getting to know the way, in which a bus and a taxi user think and react, and the tendencies or preferences of a vehicle owner in Loja city when turning on the vehicle’s radio, as well as the way of personalizing it with different accessories with which people identify themselves. This work was developed with a qualitative and ethnographic research, having as basic people to the key informant and to the interviewed people to whom the researcher applied semi-structured interviews. The study determined that the radio is a fundamental element in urban transportation as buses or taxis, where it functions as an entertained, musical and in some cases informative companion that pleases to both the driver and users during their trips. The interviews were analyzed based on the contributions done by outstanding authors as Winocur (2002), Morley (2007) and other investigators of similar issues
