Abstract:This work, whose research line is Technology Applied to Education, analyze the relationship between income levels of the families of the students of the Escuela Superior Politecnica del Litoral (ESPOL) and the use of Internet in academic activities and entertainment. In the same way, analyze the measures of the relationship between academic performance and the Internet use in academic activities and entertainment. The development of this research was done by applying the KDD process using Data Mining and the use of SPSS version 19 software. Finally, identifies the proposed hypotheses are not fulfilled because there is no relationship between the level of income of the families of the students and the use of the Internet for learning, and there is no relationship between the level of income and the use of Internet for entertainment. The use of technology in learning does not affect academic performance, and the use of technology.
