Diseño urbano-arquitectónico del terminal terrestre tipo 3 para el cantón Saraguro

Abstract

The land transportation in Latin America has played a big role in the progress or stagnation of different communities; in this field not only roads and vehicles are included, but also, social, cultural and economic aspects of the population are influenced. In the recent years, the road aspects have taken a great importance in Ecuador. A significant amount of money has been invested in order to develop roads, highways and first level urban facilities that allow the land transport to develop in a correct and safe manner. In some of the counties in the province of Loja, the urban facilities that were initially installed does not supply the existing needs of the population, or those simply does not exist. As a consequence of this, some spaces has been improvised or adapted in order to fulfill the function of urban facilities, giving as a result an unsuitable service; generally, this results in problems of disorder and discomfort to people who need to make use of them. Nowadays, in the canton Saraguro, it is possible to see several critical problems in vehicular mobility within the city. The current location of the offices of land transport companies generates traffic congestion and hazard to the pedestrians. Due to the lack of land terminal heavy vehicles and public transport has been obligated to use different streets within the city as unplanned stops, for its own activities.
