Teachers and student s perceptions on the use of video materials as didactic resource in the Inglish teaching-learning process in public schools in Loja.

Abstract

Abstract:The present research work “teachers and student’s perceptions on the use of video and audio materials as didactic resource in the English teaching-learning process in public schools in Loja” has the objective of analyzing the teachers and student’s perceptions on the use of these materials in the educational process. The data collection was obtained from three primary schools in Loja city and the participants were 8 teachers and 121 students from both genders; male and female. In regards to the used approaches, they were qualitative and quantitative; the technique was survey and the instruments were questionnaires for teachers and for students. After analyzing the results, the main conclusion is that; in general, teachers and students perceive the use of audio and video resources as positive for the English teaching-learning process. Both consider these materials as excellent resources to increase motivation and class participation, promote interest for learning, present new contents, add entertainment, create interaction between teachers and students and help improve the English skills.
