Abstract:Higher education institutions being generators of knowledge, it is very logical to say that the development, not only of a sector, but also of an entire nation, can be reflected in the contribution generated by this knowledge, in the same way, said Knowledge generation must be monitored in each of its stages, whether it is identified, created, shared, stored or used, and thus not fall into an underutilization of it. In this sense, it is firmly believed that academic innovation can be generated from knowledge management practices, or in other words, knowledge management practices derived from a particular model can facilitate the generation of innovation ecosystems and From this, contribute to universities to improve their practices, improve academic profiles of their new graduates, make contributions from research and generate ecosystems with various actors with a view to generating solutions to latent problems in society. For effect, the present investigation begins with a theoretical exploration referring to topics such as knowledge management and innovation ecosystems, dividing these topics into two chapters respectively, citing through these key concepts, as well as models applied to both organizations and IES ; The research in turn uses tools such as the survey to obtain relevant data regarding knowledge management practices applied within the UTPL Humanistic Socio-Area, which allows to finalize with the proposal of a knowledge management model that could be applied to the aforementioned area, and identify how it is involved in the stages of academic innovation.
