Abstract

Abstract:The present work, aims to determine the representations of gender that may exist in the images and contents of school textbooks granted by the Ecuadorian state, in the basic subjects: natural sciences, language and literature, mathematics, and social studies; 2016 edition. Among the variables of study, we have what refers to the main uncertainty. What representation does each genre project in the students when visualizing male and female characters in the pages of the texts? The development of this research was carried out through qualitative methodology. Same as the interview technique, directed to the director of the education district Yantzaza - El Pangui and to a teacher of the school "Juan XXIII" of the city of Yantzaza, from whom the perception regarding the textbooks was collected. Likewise, using the technique of content analysis, the interpretation of the character identified in the texts could be performed.
