Ecuadorian public high school teachers perceptions on technological resources used by teachers in their EFL classrooms during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract

Abstract:The present study focused on the Ecuadorian public high school teachers' perceptions of technological resources used in their EFL classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study was conducted in the provinces of Pichincha, El Oro, Imbabura, Sucumbíos, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas and Santa Elena.The sample population included ten public high school EFL teachers, three of them were male, and seven were female. In order to carry out this research, a mixed approach, both quantitative and qualitative, was applied. The data was collected through the data collection instruments of interview and survey. After gathering the evidence, it was analyzed considering the highest percentages and the answers of the participants. The main findings showed that EFL teachers' perceptions towards the use of ICT in their classrooms during the pandemic are highly positive due to the benefits they provide. Likewise, their perceptions of their own technological competencies are greatly positive. In addition, all of the investigated technological resources were used by the educators however the most frequently used were WhatsApp, YouTube, Virtual platforms, PowerPoint presentations, Web pages, and Educational Apps.
