Evaluación de adaptabilidad y productividad de dos variedades en el tomate (Solanum lycopersicum), a alturas de 2.300 msnm, en la Estación Agropecuaria de la UTPL

Abstract

Abstract: The city of Loja has an altitude of 2.100 meters above sea level, temperatures between 16 and 21º C, and a temperate climate, not being entirely possible to grow kidney tomatoes. The present project had the purpose of evaluating the adaptability and production of two varieties of table tomato (Solanum lycopersicum): Lumiand Conquistador, at heights of 2.300 meters above sea level, in the province of Loja, Estación Agropecuaria UTPL. For which, two cultivars of the aforementioned varieties were installed, each with three repetitions, which weregiven the same agrotechnical management. Physiological variables of height, crown width, number of flowers, number of fruits and fruit weight were evaluated. Regarding results, the variety that achieved the greatest adaptation was the Conquistadorvarietybecause it presented a greater number of flowers and a production of 6,24 kg / plant compared to Lumi, which obtained a reduced level of flowers and a production of 5,90 kg / plant, so its production could be recommended at altitudes over 2.000 meters abovesea level.
