| Abstract: | Abstract: Aprender a escribir en inglés de manera eficaz es un proceso complejo para estudiantes de este idioma cuya lengua materna interfiere cuando intentan desarrollar actividades de escritura. Por lo tanto, los maestros de Inglés deben seleccionar metodologías apropiadas e innovadoras para promover el desarrollo de la escritura en sus alumnos. Google Classroom es una nueva plataforma que se utiliza para enseñar y aprender inglés. Por ello, resulta fundamental realizar este estudio con el objetivo de investigar los efectos de utilizar Google Classroom para mejorar las habilidades de escritura de 46 estudiantes de noveno grado y aplicar una encuesta a 4 docentes de inglés de un colegio público de Loja. Este estudio se basa en un diseño cuasiexperimental. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron una prueba antes y después del experimento y una encuesta en escala Likert. La muestra se dividió en dos grupos denominados experimental y de control. El primer grupo recibió instrucción a través de Google Classroom y el otro recibió clases de manera tradicional. Los resultados demostraron que el rendimiento en escritura de los estudiantes mejoró cuando ellos utilizaron GC. |
| Description: | Resumen: Learning how to effectively write in English is considered as a complex process for EFL learners whose mother tongue interfere when they try to produce writing tasks at school. Therefore, it requires more emphasis for English teachers to select appropriate and innovative methodologies to persuade learners writing development. Google Classroom (GC)is one of the newest e-learning platforms which is used for teaching and learning English. For this reason, it becomes essential to conduct this study with the aim to investigate the effects of using Google Classroom to enhance writing skills among 46 EFL learners from ninth grade and applying the survey to 4 English teachers at a public high school of the city of Loja. This study is based on a quasi-experimental design. The instruments used were pre and post-test writing questionnaires and a Likert scale survey. The sample was divided into two groups named Experimental and Control groups respectively. The first group received instruction through GC and the other one was taught in a traditional way. The results demonstrated that students writing performance improved when they use Google Classroom. |
