Ecuadorian public high school teachers ́ perceptions on technological resources used by teachers in their EFL classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract

Abstract: Since the COVID-19 pandemic, educational centers in Ecuador began to provide virtual education. This new paradigm completely changed the perspective of most teachers who had to transfer their traditional teaching to new methods using technology to educate at a distance, eliminating the barriers of distance and time. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the perceptions of Ecuadorian public secondary school teachers about the technological resources used by teachers in their EFL classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic, and for this study, the quantitative methodology was applied and qualitative in which two surveys and an interview were applied to 10 teachers of English as a foreign language (EFL) in 2 schools in the city of Cuenca.The results of the study show that English teachers in public schools take advantage of the importance and benefit of technologyfor language teaching using technological resources such as; digital platforms, web pages, online dictionaries, online applications to motivate student learning at a time when technology brings a series of benefits that help improve efficiency and productivity in the classroom, increasing student interest in academic activities.
