The use of Edpuzzle to improve speaking skills

Abstract

Abstract: This study delves into how the utilization of Edpuzzle can contribute to the development of oral skills among high school students. The research was conducted with fifteen students of the 3rd grade of the Bachillerato from a fisco-misional high school in the city of Catamayo, Loja. A mixed methodological approach was employed, combining quantitative and qualitative methods for data collection through five instruments. In the initial phase, a pre-test with six questions was administered to assess the participants level of linguistic skills. Subsequently, during six weeks of classes, Edpuzzle was implemented as the primary learning tool. To track individual progress, a monitoring sheet was utilized. Additionally, a 10-question survey was administered to students to gather their perceptions of Edpuzzle. An observation sheet was also used to assess students behavior in class and to gauge their level of engagement and motivation with the application. After the study period, a post-test was applied to evaluate the advancement in oral skills following the integration of Edpuzzle. The findings of the research unveil a positive impact of Edpuzzle on the students, evidencing its contribution to the development and enhancement of oral skills.
